Mortality rates were corrected for ICU level (in which level 1 are the least and level 3 the most advanced ICUs), age, cardiovascular insufficiency, cirrhosis, haematological malignancy, cardio vascular accident, medical or surgical admission type, planned admission, mechanical ventilation in the first 24 h of admission, chronic renal insufficiency, chronic dialysis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, respiratory insufficiency, neoplasm, immunological insufficiency, gastrointestinal bleeding, acute renal failure, confirmed infection, vasopressors, diabetes, cerebrovasculair accident, CPR, dysrhythmia, and logit transformed APACHE IV mortality probability [26]
