  1. Length of stay (LOS) is represented by mean days (95% confidence interval). Acute LOS is defined as hospital admission outside of the ICU (ie. ward). Total LOS is the sum total of ICU and acute LOS. A one-year lookback period before index ICU admission date is used to determine the number of hospital admissions or ED visits pre-ICU admission. A one-year follow up period after index ICU admission date is used to determine the number of ICU re-admissions, hospital re-admissions or ED visits post-ICU admission
